    Anonymous

Though it may be a bit before Valentine’s day my mom likes to decorate the house for every holiday which came in handy for this week’s photo challenge. We had to portray the feeling or someone being anonymous. I chose to center frame the heart and keep the background dark for I wanted the focus to be obvious the heart, but the hole in the heart creates a dark anonymous feel to it. I thought of it as a sort of unrequited love as if there is someone who loves someone else and they don’t know or they don’t love them back so there is just this nameless empty hole…

    Center Frame Portrait

The goal of this photo was to compose it to be center framed. In the past and often we tend to stick to the rule of thirds which places our center of attention at one thing, but it is usually not at the center of the photo. I chose to light a candle and have my flame be my attention grabber which I think amplified the center frame composition as it is also the brightest part of the photo.

    New Beginnings

The inspiration for this photo was new beginnings, and I chose to take a picture of this beautiful flower I found in my back yard. I chose this flower because it was refreshing and pink, and the light was shining on it beautifully. As well you can see all the layers to the flower which shows all of the life in the flower. There are also buds that haven’t bloomed yet that show it is starting over and new.

    Trash

The inspiration for this picture was trash and so I took that quite literally and went into my trash to create this masterpiece. By the way, the caption is a trick question because it can be whatever you want it to be! It is an interpretive piece filled with protein pretty flower cups and, of course, animal fries! I just had fun with this peice and didn’t want to be touching too much trash…

    Balance

The challenge for this assignment was to take a photo that is nicely balanced. As the holidays are among us I chose to take a picture of my family’s Christmas hats! I made it balanced by using symmetry down the middle. I placed two red hats on each side each saying naughty and nice with the tops of the hats folded complementary to each other. This furthers the balance throughout the photo.

    Hometown

The assignment for this photo was to take a picture of something that reminds you of your hometown. Los Altos Hills is my home town I was born and raised here and never lived anywhere else. I am extremely lucky to live so close to this beautiful preserve that is just a walk away. I chose this place because it is somewhere I go to work out, take pictures, or just to sit and look at the view. The sunsets are the best here and I try to watch them every night from this view, sadly it was overcast when I took the photo, but you can still see its…

    Black and White

The inspiration for this photo was to take a photo and put a black and white filter on it. I chose to take a picture of my friend’s cat because they are so stunning with or without color. I think that black and white can make things simpler but also more striking which was my goal with this photo. He was quite the model for all of my photos however 🙂

    Leading Lines

I took this image to represent leading lines by following the rule of thirds, having my subject fall on the points of the rule of thirds. As well it uses leading lines in the clear area of the rock that leads to the subject. This follows on to show the leading line of where the subject may be looking. As well there is a pond as a frame as well as the leaves that are surrounding the subject.

    Love Story

This is an image of two of my good friends that I took while we were at the beach this weekend. I chose to take it from an angle almost from behind them so one could see the view that they are seeing. They have their arms around each other which visually portrays the love they have for each other. Showing the love story that they have as best friends. As well I applied a curves layer to the image to bring out the colors. This showed the difference in light on the right versus left side of the photo, enhancing the rule of thirds.

    Weight or Mass

This week we had to represent the weight or mass of an object in our image. I decided to take a picture of this beautiful tree in my back yard. I chose to get underneath the tree so that the sun would shine through the leaves. This allows one to be able to see all of the shades in the leaves of yellow, orange, and red. In addition with the light shining through, one can se the transparency of the leaves showing that they are thin. The leaves are blowing around as well as there was a breeze that also portrays the light airy feeling that leaves give.
