Deadly Sins

Landscape photograph of a cat laying down on a bed. The cat is fluffy, gray and white, and has green eyes. There are two blankets on the bed; a grey-and-white patterned blanket and a blanket with various patches of colors.

For this photograph we had to represent one of the seven deadly sins. This is a bit of a conceptual idea, which I sometimes struggle with, so I thought about this for a while. Then, I noticed my cat sleeping, and thought it fit the idea of “sloth” pretty well. I tried a few different angles, but decided on this one where he takes up about half of the frame. I think it has a good amount of negative space and is generally a nice composition. I really liked the soft lighting, so I didn’t make any huge changes in Photoshop except using the curves filter to brighten up the part of his face that was a bit shadowed. This mostly affected his eye, since it looked very dark in the photo which I felt was distracting.
