For this prompt, we were asked to use our speedlight in different configurations to take four different photos. In the first photo, the speedlight is pointed straight at the object. This gives the object very bright highlights and very stark shadows. In the second photo, the speedlight is pointed at the ceiling. This allows the light to bounce off of the ceiling and then onto the object, which makes the lighting a bit more balanced. It looks much nicer than the first photo, but there are still pretty dark shadows in some spots. The third photo keeps the speedlight pointed to the ceiling, and also uses the white card as another place for like to bounce off of. The result is shadows that aren’t as dark, and overall the light is much more of a white/neutral color. The fourth photo also has the speedlight pointed at the ceiling, but uses the diffuser instead of the white card. The effect is pretty similar to the photo taken with the white card, but the lighting is a bit less white in color, and looks a tiny bit softer. In my opinion, the photo that turned out the best was the one taken with the speedlight to the cieling and the white card. I think the colors of the photo look good and the shadows are just the right intensity.
