Zenith

Introduction

How do you ignite your passion and elevate your skills and experiences
to create your ultimate and most successful Freestyle project?”

Our final project for all Freestyle seniors in our elective class (mine is Design) was the Zenith Project. In our Zenith project, we were challenged by the question above. In general, the Zenith project allows final-year students to fuel their passion for creativity while strengthening their skills and experiences to produce a quality final product they can be proud of.

The Zenith project was an opportunity for me to explore a more flexible, hands-on, and something I had never done before. I have always been intrigued by crocheting and the number of possibilities that can be created. This is why I chose to crochet multiple animals for my friends and family as my Zenith project. I have seen many people crocheting animals, bags, accessories, clothes, etc and I find that genuinely amazing. This particular project has become a passion of mine because I noticed that crocheting can expand people’s creativity in an exciting way.

As a beginner at crocheting, this final project has been challenging since there was quite a lot to learn about. I had to learn a lot during the process, which is why some crochet stuffed animals look better than others. However, even though this project was very tiresome and lengthy, I have also learned more about letting myself experiment throughout this project. I hope you enjoy seeing my progress as I enjoyed this project until the very end!

Process

My moodboard

After completing my moodboard filled with inspirational images and the possible colors I would use, I started to sketch the type of animals I would be crocheting. This was a quick sketch to start getting an idea in my head and started writing the colors of the yarn I would use on each animal. I was initially going to crochet 6 animals but I only ended up crocheting 4 due to the time strain, take a look at my sketches below!

After doing sketches, I bought all the materials that I needed to start crocheting, This includes multiple colors of yarn, stuffing, stitch markers, hooks, needles, and safety eyes. Below I have the materials I used throughout my project, including my first square and circle I crocheted to practice!

Practice shots (squares & circles)

After this lengthy preparation with sketches, materials, and practice projects, I started crocheting my animals. I have some progress shots attached below, enjoy!

Final Products

Finally, after a stressful and tiresome journey of crocheting animals, I finished crocheting 4 of my stuffed animals. Here are the pictures of all 4 animals which will soon be delivered to my friends!

THANK YOU!

Reflection

After finishing our Zenith project, everyone had to reflect on what we had accomplished for our final project by answering the question above this page. This final project has been very stressful, but I have learned a lot during the process. I can’t wait to take this and expand my crocheting skills in the future. Thank you for watching my crocheting journey!
