Self-Portrait

1/100, f2.5, ISO400

In the original “self portrait” photo challenge at the beginning of my junior year, I chose to photograph a tree outside of my house that I felt represented me. Because of my love for nature and green being my favorite color, it worked well as a depiction of me. For this self portrait photograph a the every end of my time at Freestyle, I wanted to expand off of this symbolism idea and take another picture that represented me at my current stage in life nearly two years later. This time, I chose to use this picture I’d taken of a different tree in my yard. This maple tree has been at my house for the entirety of the time I’ve lived there, however it’s gotten sick and will soon have to be removed. Like this tree, I will also be leaving home soon and starting a new chapter in my life. Because of this, I feel that this photograph acts as a successful self portait.
