Welcome to my page! My name is Lindsay McKinley and I’m a Design student at Freestyle Academy. Outside of school and Freestyle, I’m an active member of my community and participate in a multitude of extracurricular activities. I’ve been in Girl Scouts since kindergarten, and currently serve in the leadership team of my troop. I love theatre, and currently, I’m the co-president of two drama clubs at Mountain View High School. I also play the flute and love both listening to and playing my own music!
For my showcase project, I wanted to feature a project that I was proud of and that represented my time at Freestyle. Because of its interdisciplinary nature, many of my Freestyle projects have overlapping elements from my three classes: English, Digital Media, and Design. Ultimately, I decided on my Narrative Book Jacket project because it was based on work done in both English and Design, and I’m proud of how it turned out.

In this video, I broke down my process for creating my design.
Reel
My reel features a variety of projects from my junior and senior years at Freestyle. I chose projects that demonstrated a range of my work. The works in this video were made using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign, and the video was produced in After Effects.
In the past two years, I’ve grown so much as an artist and creator. Freestyle has offered me the creative freedom to be able to explore a wide variety of artistic pursuits, and I’m so grateful for every experience. Next year, I will be attending Stanford University, where I’m interested in majoring in Science, Technology, and Society, with a concentration in communication and media. At Stanford, I hope to further my artistic education and continue to grow artistically and academically. My time at Freestyle has provided me with an incredible foundational skillset, and I feel very prepared to begin this next chapter of my life.
