Flowers

1/200 sec; f/2.5; ISO 125

I feel like this picture is pretty self-explanatory for the prompt. In my opinion, making flower crowns is underrated and harder than it looks.

Stranger

ISO 800, f;2.8, 1/250 sec

This is a photo I took of one of my grandma’s drawings. I thought it represented a “stranger” because when she was telling me about this picture, she mentioned how it was a self-portrait but yet it looked like a stranger.

Aging

ISO 400, f; 2.8, 1/250 sec

I really think that this picture reminds me of aging because aging is present all throughout nature. In some bird flocks, the oldest birds fly at the center because they are considered the leaders of the pack.

Shadows

1/100 sec; f/3.6; ISO 100

This is an image that I took for my profile project in English. I really love the way the shadows in this picture enhance the face of my Profile Subject. This is also one of my favorite pictures because it encaptsures the subject’s whole living space, and really gives the viewer a feel of who she is.

New Beginnings

f/2.8, ISO 125, 1/80 sec

I liked the backlighting of these mossy plants, it allowed for a really soft look in general . I also feel like plants and nature in general represent the possibility for new beginnings because they are always changing and creating new life.

Sunset

f/3.5, 1/125, 120

I took this picture on a visit to Santa Barbara, and the sunset was so breathtaking I couldn’t help but take a picture. I like how the warmth of the sun really pops, and the reflection in the water is a detail that I really like. The waves and the surfers help by adding a lot more depth and interest to this picture.

Sport Stories

1/250, f/5.9, ISO 3200

For this picture, I took an unconventional meaning to the word “sport”. I took my camera with me to the Beyonce concert, and honestly, this was a big unexpected challenge to photograph with the flashing lights, but I’m really proud of this picture. Beyonce is an athlete in my eyes because the incredible dancing and singing she does blows us all away.

Self-Portrait

1/20, f2.8, ISO800

We were given the assignment to take a picture representing ourselves including us, but without including our faces. The category of this post is also storytelling, so I wanted to tell a story about myself using things that I think are strong symbols of who I am and what I’m like. This is a picture I took of my room on an average day, which is where I spend 99% of my time when I’m at home. You can see my cat, Pickles sitting on my bed. He likes it when I leave the window open so he can watch the birds on the tree outside. We can also see the posters in my room which are mostly musicians and bands that I like to listen to. I think of music as a big part of my identity, and I love listening to all genres of music (except country). There is also a poster of my favorite animated movie, “My Neighbor Totoro”. Although I’m taking film, not animation, this was one of my favorite movies that reminds me of my childhood.
