I look at this photo and I can feel the present panic of dropping and shattering the phone.
I can hear the loud, sharp, thud as it hits the ground, and the unmistakable dread as I pick it up gently to check the state of the screen. It’s is a very modern-day panic.
The thing is, none of this ever actually happened. I cracked it weeks ago slamming it at the kitchen table (I guess my math homework was particularly frustrating that day). It wasn’t even a hard impact, it just hit hard little pebble of a crumb from something and totally fractured. I wasn’t even aware that it had broke, since it just sat face-down on the table as I continued working.
I staged this photo with a red little light on the dark bathroom floor.
