Windsurfing shoe

50mm, f3.375 , ISO 100, 1/195

This is one of the shoes that I wear windsurfing. They are ripping along the line of the sole, and are a size too big. I loved them through freshman year, but once my socks started peeking through, I retired them to the water.

Converse, I’ve found, are perfect shoes for windsurfing because they have a perfectly flat and thin bottom, allowing me to maintain my balance even through the shoe (I used to go in running/tennis shoes which I’ve found to be much more difficult due to the sloped sole). They also protect your ankles in case the sail comes swinging around like a scooter. These shoes were old before I started taking them into the water. Now they’re even older, but just as perfectly functional as the first day I got them — even with the faded color and ripping seams.
