Self-Portrait

50mm, f3, ISO 800, 1/165

For this photo in the beginning of the year, we were challenged to create a self-portrait of ourselves but without showing our face. I chose my hand as the main subject since physical creation and creativity through my hands is a key part of who I am. This is coupled with the series of bracelets and my watch that I wear on my wrist every day. The watch is beat-up, drawn on, and scraped-up; I feel representing the messy part of me. The beaded bracelets both show the connections I hold with the people around me, as they were gifted to me from my friends and family. The pink silicone bracelet is from a leadership program where I learned many things, one of which being the importance of attitude and optimism in every day life. It reads ‘complaint free’.
