“The Future:” NFT’s & Cryptocurrency

About this Podcast

Non-fungible tokens (NFT’s) and Cryptocurrency are seen as “revolutionary products” and investments have been blowing up over the past couple months. We have seen famous people buying them all the way to regular day people buying them. So, we asked a couple experts about where they see the future of these products going and if your next ticket to a Golden State Warriors game could eventually be an NFT. In this podcast, we dive into the basics of these two products, while also providing some more complex examples for your understanding.

About Reed

Reed Keenan is an 18 year old from Los Altos, CA attending Freestyle Academy and Los Altos High School. He is an avid sports player but his career path is on the opposite side of the spectrum as he hopes to be a cinematographer in the film industry. The interviewees are two of his lifelong friends that happily volunteered to be a part of the project. They each run their own respective businesses reselling high fashion items and work together on the investment of NFT’s. Crypto and NFT’s are something that I have been interested in for a while so this podcast not only serves to educate the audience, but also myself.

Introduction

JRE Influence

I had a couple of influences for my podcast. The main one was Joe Rogan’s podcast, JRE. What I really like about his podcasts is that he really lets the interviewee talk and ramble on. They are highly intellectual people in this field so he lets them spit their knowledge. He doesn’t constantly interrupt them and disturb them which I liked a lot and copied in my recording.

The Podcast project gives us an opportunity to either tell an engaging and eye opening story or to interview highly educated individuals about a topic of your choice. Podcast’s are a medium that can not only be listened to for entertainment purposes but also for education purposes. They are also highly democratic because it allows anyone to speak their voice and release their thoughts to the public. There’s no restrictions really on what you can talk about. You could release a podcast in a video format on YouTube or even on Spotify. Podcast’s can spark further conversations and inspiration which is what I wanted to do with my podcast.

Reflection

As always, what I really valued about this project was the opportunity. For years I’ve heard people talk about various podcasts and how much they’ve wanted to be a part of one. I was then given the opportunity to create a podcast where I was the interviewer which was really fun because I got to listen to my friends talk about something they are really passionate about. Another thing that I really valued was just being a listener. I feel like when I engage in conversations and something crosses my mind I immediately start to just talk and I interrupt them, which isn’t good. I’ve come to notice and it’s something I’m trying to fix. So I think by following the idea of letting my interviewees really just speak I was better able to listen and create relevant follow-up questions. If I had any tips for first timer’s like I was, don’t stress it. It’s a lot of fun and a lot easier than you think. Just make sure your mic is properly plugged in and the input is set properly before you start recording. The last thing you want is to have to restart and lose good footage.
