At this point in time, the world is in a really bad place. A historic war for Ukraine’s independence vs. Putin and Russia. Climate change all over the place. Ridiculous gas prices. Will Smith just punched Chris Rock live at The Oscars. And there’s so much more. When I first looked at the prompt for this week, there wasn’t anything positive I could think of photographing. Sure, things may be going well for me on the college side of things, but for the majority of the world, now is a really difficult time. To me, the image is somewhat powerful. A paper towel, something clean and uninfected, almost a symbol of how the world should be, is being charred and infected by fire, something invasive and harmful, how the world is currently.
