I chose my brother as my subject matter because he inspires me to improve my art and maintain my grades so that I don’t let him down. He also provides a lot of insight on my art in particular, and I go to him often for advice. He’s 10, but even though he’s young, he has a very good eye for art, and getting his opinion is really valuable for considering different perspectives.
This is a picture I took of my brother in the morning before he went to school. He was leaning against a frosted window, so the light was coming through just enough to provide visual interest but not enough to be glaring. I think this photo is way too close, though– if I could do it again, I’d try to make it work from a bit further out.
