Self Portrait

Photo shows a Captain America Pop figurine, Ghirardelli chocolate squares, a sketchbook, a concert ticket, a paint bottle, paint brushes, a piece of cardboard with all colors of paint allover it and a blue and white beaded necklace and bracelet.
These are a few of my favorite things!

This picture represents much of my personality as much as material objects can. Captain America was my favorite superhero as a child and still my favorite to this day and his character had a large impact on me and how I grew up as a girl obsessed with comic books and made me understand what gender norms were and how I didn’t have to conform to them. Underneath my figurine/bobble-head is my journal that my good friend gave me. This past summer I wrote down little things that came to me such as ideas for new art projects, songs that I should add to my playlists and my feelings about everything in my life and I continue to write in it now. On top, I placed Ghirardelli squares, specifically dark chocolate sea salt caramel which are one of the only things for me that truly can make any bad day a little bit better. The ticket in the photo is from a Shawn Mendes concert 2 years ago in which my mom got me and my friends seats upgraded for free and it was truly one of the best experiences I had ever had mainly because of my unhealthy 5-year long obsession with Shawn Mendes. Under that are a piece of cardboard I use at home as a paint palette, a couple of brushes, and my favorite color, red, paint. Art is a huge passion of mine and it makes me feel centered and grounded when junior year is a bit chaotic. Lastly, I have my two favorite pieces of jewelry both made by friends of mine for my birthday which I absolutely adore not just because they are very pretty and go with many of my outfits but also because two of my favorite people on the planet took time to hand make it for me and probably one of my biggest values is the people in my life.
