Food

pot of boiling water
ISO:5000 Aperture:5 Shutter Speed:1/100

Today, I made mac and cheese for lunch. I find it fun to watch the water boil and warm my hands in the steam so I decided to take a photo of the pot for this prompt.

Using Props

camera in reflection of circular mirror
ISO:6,400 Aperture:4.375 Shutter Speed:1/100

For this prompt, I used a fun mirror as a prop. I wanted to include the camera in the photo to make it look as though someone is taking a photo of you through the mirror.

Modern Convenience

One modern convenience that I can’t live without is the microwave. If I am feeling lazy and I want something to eat, I can have something ready in just a few minutes.

Creative Staged + Depth of Field

Maya holding giant leaf
ISO: 800 Aperture: 9 Shutter Speed: 1/8

For this week’s photo blog, Maya and I collaborated. We decided to make it look like she was holding a giant leaf. To do this, we took photos with Maya far away and the leaf close to the camera. We took photos, one with Maya in focus and another with the leaf in focus and then edited them together.

Viewpoint

art supplies on clear desk from view underneath
ISO: 5000, Aperture: 3.625, Shutter Speed: 1/100

For this photo, I went underneath my desk to take a photo of what it looks like mid art project. I was carving using rubber blocks and using paints to stamp with them. I wanted to show it from underneath because this is not a perspective I usually see since I normally look at my materials from above.

Film Noir

black and white photo of staircase.
ISO:6,400, Aperture: 3.625, Shutter Speed: 1/100

For this photo, I turned the saturation down to zero to make it in black and white. I also wanted for the lighting to be really dramatic so I increased the contrast and the brightness to make the light shine through more.

For this photo, I wanted to hold tiny playing cards in my hand and have in the background some regular sized cards. I wanted to show the contrast between the two sizes to use the prompt, “Small vs Large.”

Color Theory

Photo of bed in warm lighting
ISO: 6,400 Shutter speed: 1/80 Aperture: 4

For this prompt, I decided to take a photo of my room using some of the lights that I have. I wanted to use a very warm, orange light to give the photo a very cozy feeling. Afterwards, I edited the photo in Photoshop and added a screen layer warming filter to make the rest of the room fit this color.

The Elements

stone ground and puddles
ISO: 250 Aperture: 5.375 Shutter Speed: 1/512

I chose the elements earth and rain. It was raining today so I took a picture of the concrete outside and the puddles. I liked how the grooves in the stones hold the water and reflect the light.
