At the end of February, a war broke out between the US and Iran. In turn, gas prices have soared. The Strait of Hormuz, a key passageway for oil exports, is blocked off by this increased combat in the Middle East, causing this increase in prices. I photographed my local gas station to illustrate this. The prices now are higher than six dollars a gallon, similar to what prices were like during the pandemic, another major event in US history. Now we’re seeing prices rise again, only for a different reason.
