Story Telling

Self-Portrait

For this assignment, we were challenged to take a photo of something that represents ourselves without actually having us in it! This piece shows a watercolor splotch on a blank piece of paper. How does this represent me? Well, I find that I am a very independent person and am able to create my own path with what I am given. I am always given a lot of choices to make and although I can be mostly indecisive, I tend to make up my mind for what I want anyway. I try to make everything more colorful wherever I go, and always try to lighten the mood! I’m held down by happiness and it’s the one thing that always keeps me going. As shown in the photo, this is represented by how the watercolor palette is holding down on the piece of paper. The paper, representing my life. The purple, representing the happy memories I choose to create for myself. The watercolor palette has lots of colors, representing all of the choices I can choose from, all the memories I want to make. Most of them represent friends, family, education, art… just decisions I can make for myself. It’s up to me for what colors I choose and if I even want to switch to a different palette. But I always feel comfortable with what I have already, so I think I’ll stick here for a while.
