Film Noir

This week, the goal was to use the classic film noir aesthetic to tell a story. I wanted to use lighting to frame the subject in an interesting way and create high contrast. The subject in this piece is under stress, observing in paranoia as if they were being chased.

Modern Convenience

For this challenge, we had to create an advertisement of our favorite modern convenience. I quickly asked my brother to pose while in a gaming session on the Big Boi Gamer PC to add to the authentic entertainment experience, and slapped some text simulating old badly designed gaming magazines.

This week’s theme was the seasons! I decided to portray Fall with the fiery red leaves accumulated in my backyard, using focus to create a blurred composition where the leaves blend into one another.

Color without Color

For this photo challenge, we had to take a picture that showed a colorful story in black and white. I wanted to portray perseverance to achieve your goals and a higher sense of self through the elevation of growing flowers reaching towards the sky.

Friends and Family

I grew up surrounded by dogs and, sometimes, cats. We currently have a border collie called Skylar and a German Shepherd named Kitty! They are an important part of my family and definitely won’t be the last pets we raise, since a house without barking would be an empty house.

Freedom

In this quarantine, I’ve found the most freedom when playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons during my free time. I’ve been able to decorate my in-game island and house to my liking.

Aging

For this photo, we had to tell a story of aging. I snapped a picture of my mom’s hand because it had many marks of aging and was posed in a gesture of insecurity.

Shadow

We were supposed to tell a story through shadows. I decided to take a picture of my dad while he leisurely took a sip of his morning coffee, the warm shadows adding the homeliness he felt.
