I was very excited to shoot this prompt, “take a ‘self-portrait’ or photo that tells us who you are, without showing your face.” Right away I thought of taking a photo of my room because my room reflects my personality. I had difficulties thinking of what part of my room I was going to shoot and how, because shooting indoors is difficult and since my walls are pink, I knew the photo was probably going to turn out slightly orange or have not the most natural lighting.
I took a lot of different shots around my room, including my bed, my bookshelves, and all of my walls. In the end, I went with shooting the wall above my bed around 4:00 PM. I was able to leave my lights off and my window open, letting the natural light shine through to get a more naturally lit photo. This wall includes paintings that my friends made, a puzzle from a fun day, and funny magazine and calendar cutouts to fill the empty space.
