Milo Rathbun – Inspiration In this photo, I took the task very literally and thought of ways I could make the camera lie. I came up with an idea in which I would be showing one thing but have a deeper meaning. To do this I got my subject and made them face away from me while I took a picture. I positioned him in front of a mirror so that the viewer is given a whole new level of … Continue reading “Photo Blog #24: Tell a Lie”
Photo Blog #23: Leading Lines
Milo Rathbun – Composition In this shot, I used the leading lines of the ledge to point toward the subject which is the food. I tried to sort of make it a far-away perspective by shooting at a low angle and focusing on all of the negative space in front of the food.
Photo Blog #22: Stranger
Milo Rathbun – Story Telling In this photo, I was tasked with telling a story of someone I don’t know. To do this I put myself in the shoes of the audience and acted as though everyone was someone I didn’t know. To tell a story and add a much more abstract element to the photo I made it so that my subject (the person in the photo) was largely out of focus. I feel as though when you don’t … Continue reading “Photo Blog #22: Stranger”
Photo Blog #21: Serenity
milo Rathbun – inspiration In this photo, I was tasked with capturing serenity. For me, some of the most peaceful places are the ocean and my room. I chose to capture a corner of my room that I feel so safe and cozy in so that it really expressed my serenity.
Photo Blog #20: Rule of Odds
Milo Rathbun – composition In this photoblog, I was challenged to use the rule of odds in order to draw attention to certain objects or subjects. In this photo, I chose the deer to be my subject, and conveniently there was an odd number so they largely drew the attention in this photo.
Photo Blog #19: Aging
milo Rathbun – storytelling In this photo, I was tasked to tell a story about aging. When I think of aging I really think of my dad who is 82 years old and a huge inspiration in my life. Recently, I’ve been learning more and more about him and I was inspired to tell a story of part of his life in a photo. In this photo he is looking back upon a monumental moment for him in which he … Continue reading “Photo Blog #19: Aging”
Photo Blog #18: #NoFilter
milo rathbun – inspiration In this photo, I tried to capture the feeling of looking up at the complex branches and leaves of a tree. To make it more personally realistic I took it in my convertible car because I find myself always looking up at the complex branches while driving.
Photo Blog #17: Negative Space
milo rathbun – composition In this photo, I chose to use a really flat landscape with a sort of hilly background. In this photo, there is a lot of negative space but there are a few subjects that you are really drawn to as a result. The contrasting color of the cars really makes them pop out and behind is a really architecturally cool-looking building.
Photo Blog #16: Shadow
Milo rathbun – story telling I chose a tree in this picture because I feel as though trees have so much of a story to tell. You can learn a lot about a tree by the way it has grown. In this picture, we can see how over time the tree has grown over the road to cast a shadow and create this sort of beautiful passage.
Photo Blog #15: Anonymous
Milo Rathbun – inspiration In this photoblog my inspiration was anonymous so I decided to use an object as my main subject. I chose sunglasses as my object because they are used to hide people’s eyes which is a key factor in identity. I feel as though by placing it in an area covered by leaves I created this sort of hidden environment where the subject is truly conveying a message of being anonymous.
