Personal Reflection

Many times in our lives the people who inspire us are not heroes filled with awards or life changing discoveries. Most times the people who inspire us are the closest to us.

Usually, when I am asked who inspires me I say my Mom.

While true, this time, I took to reflect on why and I found it is because I spend time with her the most and know her past and daily struggles the most. However, she is only half of my influence. I discovered that although my Dad is not always present during the day, his work ethic, fierceness, sense of responsibility, and caring nature are what I appreciate about him the most. They are what make him stand out even when he isn’t present. Even when I don’t realize, they are the characteristics I take into account when I am about to make important decisions.

So as I scrambled to create this week’s blog, I wanted to make sure to capture the special place he holds in my heart. For that reason, when I found this pink cradle frame we have had since I can remember I chose to showcase it. Since I’ve grown it is the single image I always happen to catch myself staring at with admiration. I know sacrifices (like not getting a house) he has made are not always explicitly shown in the moment, but I am slowly uncovering them now. Though thanks to sacrifices I have been able to pursue my dreams and desires.

My Dad is still such a mystery to me yet one I hope to learn more and more about. I supper, very much love you Pa! <33

Creation of Photo

I chose to capture the pink cradle frame that holds a picture of me and my dad when I was a toddler. Since this week it was a picture of someone who inspires us, I wanted to make sure to add tidbits of the multiple people who inspire me. The focus I chose to be my Dad of course, while I included blue for my Mom, the rose quartz hearts for my Sister, and my golden earrings for Selena.

I am inspired by my Dad’s diligence and fierceness, my Mom’s determination, my sister’s humor, and Selena’s belief in their being no limits.
