Introduce Animation Narrative Project

In Narrative 2 unit for animation it became the first unit to where we start to learn about a real introduction to 3D. In this unit we were able to learn and practice our skills in sculpting, texturing, rigging, rendering, with new software. Softwares used were Maya, Zbrush, and Substance Painter. This unit has given me more of a understanding of how 3D animation works and the process behind it.

Weapon

The first assignment that we model was a weapon of our choice, which we had to model, sculpt, and texture. We first started in Maya to make a rough shape, then used Zbrush for more organic details, and finally used Substance Painter to texture and render the photos.

3D Environment Modeling

For the Action Reaction Animation, we were tasked to create an environment. In this project, I had to go online and find animation prop pages to be able to find and apply objects for my project.

Character Model

As soon as I had finish making the environment I then made my character model. I decided it would be cool if I would make a warrior with it being a gym. The process behind it was pretty simple using clothing that to me would represent strong. With that below is my outcome of my character.

When having to make a character the process is rather simple, first to build a base character up in Maya, then smoothing out parts to which you export to ZBrush, and finally texturing it in Substance. After finalizing the looks of the character we then had to rig and animate the character. This kind of work was only done in Maya. The first step is rigging your character that is giving it a skeleton. Then after rigging and setting up the skeleton in the model we then started animating. The animating is a process similar to 2D animating. You mainly would have to use pose-to-pose animation at 24 frames per second.

LipSync Project

In this project we created short second video showing that we can use apply lip sync with our characters.

Here below is cycle of walk, run and jump of my character.

Reflection:

Things I valued from this unit is that the huge process of being able to create such a short simple video can take a lot of time and dedication. I also took into account that there are a lot of problems when making a character, making an environment, and trying to render out videos. The process behind all of this can be very stressful, but very rewarding when done.
