Digital Media Reflection

Introduction

In this unit I learned a lot of new techniques and skills on apps like Adobe Photoshop, AfterEffects and Adobe Illustrator. Being able to create things like Mandalas to water color paintings on digital software. It has definitely made me more proud of my new skills and things that I have accomplished throughout these months.

Mandalas

Things I valued in my mandala was the amount of ideas and creativity that we had. I also enjoyed the fact that there were so many options on the Illustrator app, so it allowed me to really stretch out and think about what I really want to do for my mandalas. I think that something that I really liked about this project was the fact that there were no rules to doing what you really wanted on these mandalas. I learned that as an individual with mandalas that if you take the time and effort out of these projects it can show your true colors and what kind of a person you truly are. These projects showed me that anyone no matter the experience you have with mandalas, can still create amazing things. As myself with no experience with digitalizing mandalas, I felt confident in myself with the result of the mandala that I produced.

Photoshop Art

In Digital Media I had been playing with and using a lot of different amount of Photoshop painting techniques, which includes, oil pastel, water coloring and pastel. I was able to do this on my computer through Adobe Photoshop and there I had a lot of options with what kind of brushes I wanted to use or what shades of colors.

When making this painting I felt that I have learned a lot. I have been able to understand the different tones of shades when mapping out how the painting will look. Being able to have bright vibrant colors help makes out the object to be more noticeable. Struggles I had faced when making my piece was being able to show shading, but I overcame it by using the color wheel and picking darker tones to areas that I have brighter areas. If there’s anything I would change is that I would add more vivid whiteness around the koi fish to make it stand out more. In this project I am most proud of how the koi turned out as I thought it may not look as good as I had anticipated. This project has gave me more thoughts of different kinds of mediums I can use for upcoming projects and not only having to sticking to one. It has made me appreciate the fact that it is not easy at being good at painting when on Photoshop unless having years of practice.
