Explorations

For the Explorations project, we looked at how we could find, explore, and/or expand our passion by improving upon a particular skill set that uses 21st Century Skills. For my specific Exploration project, I chose to focus on logo design. My sister Hannah who is a senior in college next year is working on building a company with her husband Cameron and because they know I am currently learning a lot about design, they recruited me to design a new logo for their company. This is what gave me my idea for creating a logo that could be used for an apparel company as my final project.

I first wanted to start with a name for the company, and I eventually settled on revival. I liked this name because it had really awesome symmetry of the word that I could use to my advantage in my logo. I eventually settled on using the last font as my typography.

After I chose how the word was going to look, I decided I had to add an icon to the top of the “I”. I went through a lot of different ideas for what I wanted it to be. I eventually chose the crown as my favorite out of many ideas including phoenixes, flame, and flowers.

I then put them together and chose a color scheme of my favorite shade of blue and a variety of greys. The final logo looks like this

I then added this logo to different pieces of apparel as my finished project.

This is my infographic that created after doing lots of research on my topic of logo design. While it touches some aspects of logo design, it doesn’t get to all of them, but I am happy with how it ended up looking like. It was created in Adobe Illustrator.

In this project, I was able to find a lot of empathy for people who design logos because it takes quite a bit of thought and hard work to be able to come up with something that looks good and works well for a company. I was able to learn a lot of communication skills as I was doing this because I would ask my family for criticism on my logo, and I would have to try understand why they thought the things they did and make my logo better from that information.

Experimental Music

This was my favorite part of the Explorations project, and I liked it so much that I decided to do two songs. The first one is the result of my just barely learning the basics and the second one is me using all of my new knowledge that I learned from my first song. I’ll let the improvement speak for itself.
