Zenith

Introduction

The Zenith project at Freestyle: the pinnacle of our 21st century skills displayed in a singular project. For this project we could work on anything we wanted for the last month of school. The freedom was exciting and terrifying all at once. I knew I wanted to revisit the documentary unit at some point, so I decided the Zenith project was the perfect opportunity.

There are many reasons I love the genre of documentary films. The biggest being that I can share real stories that are impactful to people in my community. Documentaries can highlight people or places that may otherwise go unnoticed. I loved my documentary project from junior year, so I decided I wanted to push myself by relying less on the traditional talking head documentary.

Reflection

This project was very rewarding for me. Although I think that it is not my best technical work, being able to share someone’s story with the world through film brings me joy and reminds me why I love this art. Additionally, after spending so much time on senior narrative, it was nice to end the year with an individual project that didn’t have as many moving parts and schedules to coordinate as my narrative. Overall I am proud of the project I created and I hope it shows Percy’s impact to a new audience.
