    Color without Color

November Week 1 This week we were tasked with creating a colorful story in black and white. I was captivated by this little turtle my parents got for me. The light shining makes it seem translucent. all the more it makes it seem full of life. It always looked like it was about to swim off into the distance and with this shot, it looks like it is swimming underwater. This makes me be able to picture the blues and greens surrounding the little turtle overhead.

    Who Inspires Me?

October Week 3 Personal Reflection Many times in our lives the people who inspire us are not heroes filled with awards or life changing discoveries. Most times the people who inspire us are the closest to us. Usually, when I am asked who inspires me I say my Mom. While true, this time, I took to reflect on why and I found it is because I spend time with her the most and know her past and daily struggles the most. However, she is only half of my influence. I discovered that although my Dad is not always present during the day, his work ethic, fierceness, sense of responsibility, and…

    friends & family

October Week 1 This week’s prompt was to tell the story of a friend or family. I chose to do both, since they are so intertwined! 2020 was year experienced many losses. They were all very unexpected and shocking. Still, to remember them, we bought a little ghost balloon to remember them. By showing my sister’s stricken face I hoped to convey her sadness. The ghost balloon is to represent friends and family members that have passed away.

    Habits

September Week 3 This week prompt involved depicting habits. I was inspired by the glitter that I had spilled the previous day. As the sun reflected on it reminded me of the chaos procrastination is.

    Facial Symmetry

September Week 2 In Photoshop we learned how to create symmetry. Since I felt photographing a real person would be exposing, I chose to use one of my first paintings. To create this image I had to crop the half the image and relfect the duplicate. I did this for each side of the face. Then I combined them together to make the faces symmetrical. and It’s really funny how when I draw I usually want the face to be symmetrical, however, now that I see it in actuality if imperfection is the key.

    Your Culture

September Week 1 Many ask for miracles but many more look at her through lens of love. She is like a rock that unites everyone when the time comes. In my culture, if there is a day to be religious it is on December 12th. It is the birthday of Jesus’s mother, who we call La Virgen de Guadalupe. It is because of her role as a mother that everyone can relate to her. They can sympathize her suffering, feel loved, or simply be inspired by her.

    Exit

May Week 3 To inspire us this week we were given the phrase, “every exit is an entry to somewhere else”: And with the breeze flutters but a million wishes, that exit renews a dream. . .

    Geometry

May Week 2 Geometry surrounds us, bewitching us –bewitching us –with false justifications of humanities superiority.  But when bridges fall,  Scrapers topple, and green runs wild,  Who is left standing? . . .

    Freedom

May Week 1 Freedom is when you are free to choose but it is also knowing when you need guidance. You may not see wisdom in the moment, even so, life will make sure to push you in the right direction. Same way as birds push their young off so that my spread their own wings to fly.  You may later find them looking to the distance resting, or could it be – tittering over their long gone young.
