Narrative Visual Perspective in English

The Surreal composition representing our worldbuilding story, “Eden’s Wrath.”

In English, we developed our own original worlds and told meaningful stories that connected to real-world events. We studied multiple works such as Octavia Butler’s Parable of the Sower, which provided good examples of existing stories that tie to current-day events and themes. This allowed us to develop our own original stories with a defined setting, characters, conflict, and storyline. We came up with every single intricate detail in our worlds, which was a really exciting experience! In addition to our stories, we refined our informative writing skills by writing Worldbuilding research essays. After learning how to write essays on current issues through the book, “They Say I Say“, we explored the real-world issues that appeared in our stories’ conflicts even deeper in a complex research paper.

Our Pitch Presentation of our original worldbuilding story, “Eden’s Wrath.”

Overall, I think my writing skills really grew, especially after writing our research essay. After almost 5 months straight of writing college essays, I wasn’t that motivated/excited to write yet another essay, but I’m really proud of the essay I wrote and the time I spent refining my argument(s). I was also able to expand my creative writing skills, as that’s not something I get to do often. I think I grew in being able to come up with more unique plot twists and conflicting characteristics in my world.
