Photo Blog 52: Self-Portrait

Me putting on mascara in front of my mirror; 1.0, f14, ISO 200

For this week’s photo challenge, we were instructed to tell a story about how we believe others view us. For this, I chose to photograph myself putting on makeup; however, not in a way that I think people view me as shallow or self-centered (or at least I hope not!). I took this photo to demonstrate how I’m seen as meticulous and detail-oriented. Makeup is something that requires precision, and it truly brings out the perfectionist in me! It can also be a tool for creativity, which I believe is a trait that many people, especially my family, see in me. My family also views me as a very feminine person in comparison to the rest of them, so I think this picture accurately depicts how they see me from their point of view. Looking back at this photo blog, I’ve also just realized that both my first & last Storytelling photos reflected the same concept: Self-Portrait. It’s nice to see how my confidence has grown in almost 2 years, as my first photo blog didn’t even have my face in it.
