Photo Blog 54: Future

Me lying in the middle of an open field at Oak Elementary; 1/320, f14, ISO 200

For our final photo blog at Freestyle (!!!), we were inspired by our futures. I chose to photograph myself lying down by myself in the middle of a large, open field. The openness and vast size of the field is how I like to think of my future; open to everything. There are endless possibilities for where my life can/will take me, and I don’t want to go down just one linear path. I’m excited to break out of the Mountain View bubble and go explore what else the world has to offer. In my photo, the size of myself in comparison to the rest of the environment is incredibly small. This goes to symbolize that my life right now, at this moment, is just a small speck in what I will experience. It’s a passing moment that I shouldn’t dwell or stay stuck on. I used Adobe Photoshop to color grade my photo into an indie, coming-of-age film shot style, as that is exactly what my life feels like right now so, close to graduation – the end of a coming-of-age movie. It was a really bittersweet moment taking this photo, as I took it at my old elementary school while wearing some of my USC merch. As I’m about to leave my home of 12 years for the next phase of my life, it’s nice to look back on where it all started.
