Our objective for this week was to use “Heavy as a stone, light as a feather” as inspiration to take a photograph. At first I struggled to come up with an idea, but then with the inspirational words given, I decided to switch their meaning around. Whenever something is broken, it is most of the time shattered by another force that acts upon it that is much heavier. But that is all too simple, and I thought it would be an interesting photograph to show something light breaking something that weighs more. In this photo, I used a hollow Christmas ornament, that theoretically wouldn’t break a plate, and arranged it so that to the human eye, it looks like it broke the much heavier plate. When you first look at it, you assume the ornament is most likely a baseball or something heavier, but as you look at it in more depth and read this description you understand it is something much more different. The black and white also makes it a little mysterious.
