Film Noir
Encapsulating the mood and highly visual storytelling of film noir, I felt it was appropriate to focus on light and shadow and texture to create an abstract, emotional piece rather than to frame a portrait in mood lighting.
Work
Inspired by the stress and timestamps of working, I employed movement to emphasize the rush of always having to beat the clock when you work. I utilized a yellow and brown color scheme.
Color Theory
Using Color Theory I took a picture while reading “Bluets” by Maggie Nelson – in theme with this week’s focus of tone and color. I focused on enhancing the soft light that comes in on a late afternoon and bringing out pink and blue tones.
Modern Convenience
A mock advertisement-style photo for phone cords and earbuds. These are necessary conveniences an can easily inconvenience our day and pockets when we lose and misplace numerous pairs.

I saw this leaf leaving a grocery store. I was captivated by its beauty and the way the light hit the leaf and illuminated its texture and the drops of rain so I went back to take a photo.
Gratitude
This photo was taken at Natural Bridges. The trip was reminiscent of a butterfly and beach field trip from my childhood.
Rule of Thirds Emotion
The Rule of Thirds draws the viewer’s attention to the eyes. And like they say how the eyes are the window to the soul, this composition technique draws our eye to where all the emotion is in focus.
