Composition

Fill the Frame

Outdoor Heater

For me as a filmmaker, one who is also especially interested in cinematography, there are very few moments where I really fill the frame. Artistically, I’m more drawn to wide angle almost minimalist compositions that give the viewer the widest possible view of what’s around a character in that moment. So to have this assigned as a photo blog prompt, I found it particularly intriguing.

When looking for objects to fill the frame, I didn’t find much, at least inside my house that I found to be an interesting composition. Until, I went outside and noticed the outdoor heat lamps that I have. With the bars enclosing the centerpiece, I felt like this was the perfect composition to almost create a feeling of claustrophobia or someone being locked in as the viewer looks in from the outside world.
