Gratitude

The Wagon

One of the things that I am most grateful for, is my car. My mom bought it right after I was born and ever since for the last 18 years, it’s been apart of my life. It’s taken me on road trips across the state, to hundreds of sports games, and I’ve shared so many memories in the backseat of that car throughout my childhood.

Once I turned 16 and eventually got my license, my mom gave it to me as my own personal car. And now at over 250,000 miles and the car being over 20 years old, it’s still running.

There are tons of teenagers and even adults that aren’t fortunate enough to be able to own a car, which is why I am so grateful for it. I use it to get to school everyday and throughout the past two years of Covid now, which is crazy to think about, my car has been a place of safety and a place for me to turn too for late night drives and adventures either by myself or with friends.

Above all, the best feature about my car is the two seats that face backwards. They were always a big hit when I was a child and now they got a lot of use with my friends. I’ll always remember the days waving at the drivers of other cars from the back and the smile on their faces.

And although this car may not have a lot left in her, she’ll always be family to me.
