This week our objective was to take a photo using the rule of thirds that shows emotion. And of course, when you ask your friends to be a part of it and let them take a photo of you, it almost never goes well. Either one of us ends up laughing or they can’t take themselves seriously. So, out of all the photos I got this was the best one.
In this moment, my friend Oliver is staring down the green smoothie he just made full of super nutritious ingredients that my other friend, Kai, is about to take from him. He has a feeling of determination and anger in his eyes as moments later, he is going to go get his smoothie back.
On another note, the rule o thirds is something compositionally as a filmmaker that I want to make use of more often. As I make more and more films it is super important to me that the quality of the films and the shots increase. So, in my upcoming senior narrative film, I want to try and use the rule of thirds effectively to show the emotions of my characters.
