For this photo blog I sought to use a staged composition where I explored the use of depth of field. The main way I thought of to do this was to use a figure close to the camera and set the cameras depth of field to focus on this object. Then I would have a background that was not in focus because of this.
I eventually chose a bag of fruit gummies and a ninja figurine for my composition. This was partially inspired by the game: Fruit Ninja that I used to play as a kid. The bag of gummies was partially transparent, and so when I placed it in front of the sun it created a cool visual effect. The final step was to hold the ninja in place in alignment with the rule of thirds for a strong composition. The result is a pretty cool, colorful image that almost looks like an action scene where a ninja is determinedly chopping fruits.
