This photo uses a really long exposure to harness the lights that shine in the image. Though this photo was taken much after the sun had fully set and in almost complete darkness, the thirty five seconds of light the camera takes in illuminates the composition. In addition, the beam of light shone by the lighthouse was captured. The cloudy night sky and ocean create a mysterious ambiance and a path marked by a rickety wooden fence can be followed into or out of the frame.

I took this photograph to represent the possibilities the future gives us. The composition is dimly lit and somewhat ominous, representing our potential fears about the future and inability to know what lies ahead. However, the brilliance of the lighthouse stands out from this scene. It stands firmly and shines its light over the darkness, guiding the way and giving hope for the future.
