The photo blog idea for this week was the seven deadly sins. These are usually pretty serious problems that definitely affect me, but when taking this photograph I was in a silly mood, so I thought of a lighthearted composition idea. That is when I saw my cat sleeping on my brothers bed, and thought of the often forgotten deadly sin: sloth. My cat spends almost the whole day every day sleeping, and he does not really get anything done. His life is almost dedicated to sleep, and in some ways he is the ultimate example of sloth.

When taking the photo, I sought to maintain some fuzziness to help show his comfort, and so held the camera instead of using a tripod, resulting in some softness where the image is not perfectly clear. Then I just tried to set up the composition in alignment with the rule of thirds, and took the picture. In doing so I captured the essence of the deadly sin: sloth. As I am writing this, my cat continues to be in the bed sleeping.
