For this portrait, I wanted to capture various elements that make up who I am. The image as a whole has a sad, lonely feel to it, but when one looks closely there is much more than that. I wanted to capture both my frequent self-assessment and the vibrancy and colorfulness of my true personality. I wanted to tell this story of who I am through the lens.

In order to create these feelings associated with the picture, I turned off all the lights in my room and made the only light source my computer screen, which I set on a light blue wallpaper. Then I placed my camera behind the chair I would sit on for the photo, at an angle where it captured the back of my head and my reflection in the window, which is not clear enough to see my face. Finally, using a 10 second delay, I would prime the camera for a photo and then run to place myself on the seat and pose as desired for the image.
