Athletic fields are perfectly symmetrical at the middle. And this one in particular has lights around the perimeter, which enhance the symmetry to an even greater extent. The concept was to create an image of a solemn and solitary field that is almost asking to be played on again. (I had just played a soccer game with my team here, but we were the last game of the night.)
In order to capture the vivid color of the field while creating the star effect on the lights, I used a very long F-stop while balancing the brightness using a much lower aperture. As a result, the bright lights shine on a black background with the green field extending out in front of you.
