In my weekly photo blog, one of my challenges was to take photos that implemented compositional techniques in photography.

This week we were challenged to use props in our photo, so I used fruit from my yard in a lightbox.

This week’s challenge was to use Depth of Field creatively in order to make a subject appear part of something larger. I decided to photograph my friend Charissa in a pink outfit in front of some cherry blossoms in order to give the photo a light pink vibe and have her blend in a bit with the nature surrounding her.

This week’s challenge was to explore Color Theory by using Color Grading to make an image look like the still of a movie. I chose to photograph my friend Akemi in a field of dead grass and accentuate the tones of red and cyan in Photoshop in order to give it a movie look.

Our challenge this week was to “use the rule of odds in an Urbanscape/Architecture photo”. I decided to photograph my friend Akemi in front of an interesting building in order to incorporate cool architecture as well as an odd number of subjects (one).

This week’s prompt was to use the rule of thirds in photography to show emotion. I chose to creatively photograph my friend in a mirror looking defeated.

This week, we were challenged to fill the frame with one color. I chose to photograph the dead grass at Shoreline Lake to show how one color (yellow) can have multiple shades.

This week we were challenged to symmetrically transform a portrait. I decided to use a photo of my friend Klavie that I took for her Senior Portrait.

This week’s challenge was to use leading lines in food photography. I decided to photograph easter eggs I had colored and use the lines of the carton to create depth in my photo, along with the transition from lightness to darkness in correlation with the focus disappearing along with it.
