Musical
This week we were told to use music as our inspiration. For me, music is dancing, so I photographed my friend dancing in a field.
Work
This inspiration this week was “work”. Last year, I got my first job working as a social media market and web designer at Nature Gallery, a small mineral and fossil store in downtown Los Altos. Above is a photo of when My friend and I shot a short promotion video and product images for Nature Gallery’s jewelry line, the “87Rocks Collection”.
The Elements
This week, our inspiration was the Elements: Earth, Fire, Wind, Rain, and Spirit.I decided to portray the Earth element in my photo with leaves in my backyard, and convey the feeling of age that I associate with Earth (hence the black and white colors as well as the dead leaves).
Gratitude
As Thanksgiving comes around the corner, his week’s challenge was to photograph: “What are you grateful for?”. I chose to photograph my best friend Klavie with a cup of coffee, as I’m grateful to have her in my life and go on coffee runs together.
Who Inspires You
“Inspiration comes from many places. Take a photo that shows us about who inspires you.”
To answer this prompt, I chose a photograph that I took of my sister last year during the holidays. She inspires me in ways more than one, but I most look up to her kindness and support for others.
Habits
A dying bouquet of flowers.
Exit
This week’s challenge was to represent the concept, “every exit is an entry to somewhere else”, in a photograph. I chose to represent it by photographing a soda can being opened, as the soda exited the can while air entered it, meaning the hole in the can could be seen as both an exit and an entry.
Tell a Lie
This wee’s challenge was to prove wrong the saying, “the camera never lies”. I interpreted this prompt as
Serenity
This week’s challenge was to answer the question, “what does serenity mean to you?”. I decided to photograph my cat in an aesthetic light using lights I found in my room in order to portray the calmness of serenity.
